As the nation looks forward to the King’s Coronation this weekend, the dogs at leading animal welfare charity, Battersea, are getting ready ahead of the celebrations by having a street party of their own. The charity’s resident dogs enjoyed a sunny afternoon of royal-themed treats, toys and games to celebrate ahead of the Coronation of His Majesty The King, and the crowning of Battersea’s Royal Patron, Her Majesty The Queen Consort.

With Her Majesty’s famous love for dogs and her very own Battersea Jack Russell Terriers Beth and Bluebell becoming the new residents of the royal household, it was only fitting that some of Battersea’s dogs celebrated the occasion with a right royal party of their own.

Rob Young, Head of Centre Operations at Battersea, said, “The dogs at Battersea love getting outside and playing together come rain or shine, and what better reason than to celebrate the King’s Coronation with a party of their own! While Beth and Bluebell have already found their loving home, we have dogs of all shapes and sizes who are looking for a home fit for royalty.”

Her Majesty The Queen Consort has a longstanding relationship with Battersea, having been the charity’s Royal Patron since 2017, when she took over from the late Queen Elizabeth II who retired from her position aged 90 after sixty-one years. Her Majesty The Queen Consort opened the charity’s new London cattery in 2010, the Veterinary Hospital and Centre of Excellence in 2016 and the Duchess of Cornwall Kennels at Battersea’s Old Windsor centre in 2020.  Her Majesty visited Battersea’s Brands Hatch centre in Kent for the first time in February 2022, and last summer hosted a reception at Clarence House to celebrate Battersea’s 160th anniversary.
